​As families travel to visit relatives this summer or enjoy a vacation to a fun destination, it’s important to remember how Wi-Fi access changes outside your home.

Devices connected to unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks may not have the same protections you depend on for keeping your kids safe online.

So if you’re at a relative’s home, at a hotel, or in a restaurant with Wi-Fi, take a few minutes to consider how that impacts your kid’s online safety.

✅ Summer Tips:​
A few simple steps can help!

• Review family tech expectations before you leave home. (When, where, how long devices can be used.)
• Pre-download movies, games, or audiobooks so kids spend less time browsing online.
• Ask relatives about their Wi-Fi safety settings. If they have none, bring your own family’s safe router from home to provide a filtered network for your family’s devices.
• Remind children to use devices only in shared spaces, not behind closed doors.
• Encourage kids to report anything online that involves nudity (people with no clothes on) or makes them feel uncomfortable. Make sure they know you’ll stay calm and they won’t get in trouble.

A little planning can help everyone enjoy traveling and family time while staying safe online!
